History and cultural sights
The town of Tsarevo is situated on two picturesque peninsulas near the Black Sea coast. Located about 70 km away from Bourgas, it is the largest port in the south after Bourgas.
The town of Tsarevo is the heir of an ancient townexisted around the present village of Lozenets. As a result of attacks by people, living in “kardzhali” area during the Ottoman slavery, the inhabitants moved and settled here, in today's old town. It was known as Vasiliko. In 1882 it was destroyed by a fire, then was built in its current location. Until 1934, the village is called Vasiliko, when it was named Tsarevo, then Michurin and now again - Tsarevo.
Sightseeing
Today the town is among our most visited southern coastal cities. The resort offers hospitality, good service, fun and fresh market rich with vegetables and local produce. Especially pleasant are the evenings near the port, walks along the pier over the breakwater, in the coastal city park or to the peninsula, where high above the sea rises Assumption church (1825), restored and operational again since 1999. In the city can be also visited the Church of St. Boris (1830) and St. George's Chapel.
The surroundings of Tsarevo are dotted with submerged in vegetation coastal places, preserved their primary natural beauty.
